Boycott KFC!

Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) has decided to jump on the feminist bandwagon - they think using violence will sell their new Hot Shot Bites like hotcakes.
Their lame excuse for this new product ad shows a woman trying the snack, then slapping a man across the face (!!)
Apparently the ad has already generated a shitstorm of complaints. KFC's reply, FWIW, is the sort of lame-ass fudging that answers and accomplishes nothing. One of KFC's attorneys even had the temerity to think that "the smack in the commercial was a metaphor with the smack of the flavor." He fell into a vapid silence when asked, point-blank if he found it acceptable were the roles to be reversed.
It should also be remembered that KFC have stirred controversy before, about 3 years ago, when they airily claimed that a bucket of chicken was all that was needed to silence an angry black mob.

This tasteless commercial has already aired and can been seen on Youtube too, although I haven't seen in Singapore. Yet.
But that's because I stopped watching TV anyway.
Here's the commercial - if you can abide to watch it.

What shall we do about this?
Can we do anything?
Hell, YES!! You can:
At the end of the day, what might actually work is the good old boycott.
Yes, you may say that we have threatened boycotts before but to no avail if the larger public keeps on patronising said products.
To me that's no big deal. KFC in Singapore is a salty, greasy, inedible mess nothing like what the good Colonel originally envisioned..
But think of the ripple effect - we who boycott tell people to do so, they go on to tell others and it should spread like wildfire.
Hopefully KFC will see their profits plunge and back down.
Oh and an apology would be nice, but that is as New Wave band China Crisis might say, its just wishful thinking.

Doritos slaps man in the face

This is it folks, the end of the world is here: Doritos SuperBowl ad.
And according to TiVo, this was America's all-time favourite SuperBowl 44 advertisement.

I haven't seen it myself.
I don't want to see it.
I see enough of men being humiliated or portrayed as buffoons/idiots/cretins in TV commercials, soap operas, reality TV shows, even Hollywood now, to last a lifetime.

As Marc Rudov on The NoNonsense Man said: "If all of this is so funny, reverse the genders and run the same commercials again. Let’s all have a big laugh. What network, agency, and advertiser pinheads are greenlighting these anti-male commercials? Send me their names; I will publish them." Indeed, where is the outrage, especially from that (fake) guardian of morals Michelle Obama? Where are the mothers, the progressives, the purveyors of “women’s studies” programs, pediatricians, and child psychologists? There are none. There will be none.

This is now another brand to add to the boycott blogroll. The next time you see misandrist drivel, witness domestic violence, or watch a man being manhandled by his own children, remember that the brass hats at Pepsi's Frito-Lay division have given the sanction to do so. And because America (and the world) have kept silent, that is tacit agreement.

Misandric Company = Boycott

Stand Your Ground (http://www.standyourground.com/boyc.php) has a fabulous list of companies that ABSOLUTELY must be boycotted from the misandric tone of their advertising. This ranges from mildy offensive (but offensive nevertheless) jokes making fun of men, to downright odious man-bashing.

While most of the companies are American, quite a few stand out because they have reached an overseas audience too. Unfortunately, these are companies whom we ourselves patronize with nary a second thought as to the tenor of their advertising/marketing. This goes to prove that if we spread the message as far as we can reach, these companies will feel the loss of revenue and (hopefully) change their tune. Even though some of these ads are long gone, we must show these companies that MRAs are like elephants - we never forget. And if by not forgetting we vote with our feet as well as with our dollars, so much the better!

Some of these companies I now list below:
Heineken: offensive ad with Carrie-Ann Moss
Ford Motors: male-bashing commercial
Post-It Notes a.k.a 3M: misandric, prejudiced and discriminatory product captions
The Body Shop: blatant anti-male campaign
Reebok: misandric TV ads displaying men acting like fools
Walls Ice Cream (UK): male bashing commercial; entitlement princess glorified
Subway: Male-bashing ad
Liz Claiborne: Misandric report & radio ad campaign
Toys R Us: Anti-boy TV commercial
Quantas: discrimination against men, male hatred
Air New Zealand: Same as Quantas
British Airways: Same as Quantas
Nokia: Misandric ad, capitalizing off misandry
Kraft Foods: Male-bashing ad
V8: Drink radio commercial demeans men
Trojan condoms: Especially offensive & misandric commercial
Pepsi: (Unfunny, atrocious & offensive) male sexual mutilation & groin jokes
Budweiser: Same as Pepsi
Burger King: Blatant "man-slapping-by-woman" commercial

I'll be especially alert to publicise my boycott (and reasons why) of these companies from now and forever more. Definitely I've eaten my last Subway (**sigh**) and drunk my last Pepsi (**double sigh**). But sacrifices have to made for the good of MRA. If these companies blatantly profit off man-bashing then I, for one, do not want my (hard-earned) dollars to go anywhere near them. Simply put, they do not deserve it.
